Summary: The euphausiids represent an important part of zooplankton, working in top-down and bottom-up control in marine food webs and play an important role in carbon transport to the deep sea. However, not much is known about the occurrence and distribution of euphausiids in the waters in the southeastern Brazil, especially in deep water. This study aims to investigate the vertical and horizontal distribution of euphausiids in a particular region of the Espírito Santo Basin and northern portion of the Campos Basin and evaluate the existence of occurrence patterns of species associated with the water masses, besides the interaction of these organisms with environmental parameters. The study area consists of the water masses typically found in the South Atlantic: Tropical Water (TW), South Atlantic Central Water (SACW), Antarctic Intermediate Water (AAIW) and the North Atlantic Deep Water (NADW). The zooplankton samples were collected in the dry season of 2013 and in the rainy season of 2014, in two transects, one in the Espírito Santo Basin and other in the northern portion of the Campos Basin. It were performed a longitudinal and vertical profiling with eight sampling stations in each transect and, in each station, the number of samples obtained ranged from 1 to 4, depending on the depth of local, totaling 20 samples in each transect. Night horizontal hauls were performed at each water mass nuclei using the system of Multiple Opening/Closing Net, MOCNESS, with mesh opening of 200μm. The sampling of physical-chemical parameters was performed by CTD profile at all sampling stations. From the results obtained from the laboratory analysis, it is expected to collect data on the euphausiids community from water masses present in the Espírito Santo Basin and northern portion of the Campos Basin.
